How to obtain the Canada Permanent Residence?

Every year over 200,000 people are allowed to enter Canada as a permanent resident. After entering Canada, they can obtain their permanent residence card and begin a new life in Canada. People who have obtained permanent residence in Canada will enjoy most of their citizenship rights. It will also be possible to obtain Canadian citizenship in a few years. Despite such benefits, it is natural for many people from all over the world to apply for permanent residence in Canada every year. But what are the ways to obtain the Canadian permanent residence?

Canada Permanent Residence Arrangements

The Canadian government has envisioned various ways for citizens of other countries to obtain permanent residence in Canada. For example, you may try to get a permanent residence in Canada through a member of your family in Canada or obtain a permanent residence in Canada by migrating to Canada. The main ways to obtain permanent residence in Canada will be discussed below.

(Method One) Express Entry

Express Entry is a fast way to immigrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency. Express Inter is an electronic system designed specifically for the skilled workforce by the Government of Canada in the framework of the Sky Worker program. All actions in this system will be done online and will be rated based on a rating system of all applicants. Finally, the highest rated invitations will be sent to ITA. The Express Entry method has three different classes, which we will discuss below.

1-Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

The Canadian Federal Skylark Program can be considered as the main route to migrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency in Canada. To qualify for the Canadian Federal Workforce Program, you must have requirements that include a one-year full-time and full-time job experience in the jobs classified by the Government of Canada. Degrees and qualifications in English or French are also other requirements for eligibility.

If you find yourself eligible, you should first create a profile on the Inter-Express system and submit your resume. Your profile and other applicants will then be reviewed and you will be awarded points based on the CRS rating system. The minimum score you need to earn is 67 out of 100 points. After ranking people based on the Canadian government’s scores, they will send invitations to applicants with the highest scores. This process will normally take less than six months, and the applicant will have two months after receiving the invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

2- Federal Skilled Businessmen Program

If you are skilled in a business area that has been listed in the Canadian Business Classification, you can try your luck in this program. To participate in this program, you must have at least two years of work experience in your field. You also need to prove other requirements such as proficiency in English or French through tests such as IELTS. Having a job offer from Canada can have a huge impact on your success, but it is not required.

Once you are sure you are eligible, you can create your profile on the Inter-Express system. Note that over time you can constantly update your profile and keep up to date. After examining the privilege profile, the applicant will be awarded an invitation if he is included in the selected list and will be able to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

3- Canadian Experience Program (CEC)

The Canadian Experience is the latest way to obtain Canadian permanent residency through Express Entry. This program allows people who have had at least one year of work experience in Canada during the past three years to test their chances of becoming a permanent resident of Canada. In fact, through this program, the Government of Canada identifies and gives them the opportunity to permanently reside in Canada through this skilled and talented workforce working in Canada. In addition to work experience, there are other requirements for this program, such as getting a minimum score on the Canadian language test system.

Once you have obtained a Canadian work permit, you must complete at least one year of work experience in the country and ensure you are eligible to participate in the program. After doing this, your profile will be reviewed and you will receive a certain score.

In addition to your education, work experience and English language skills that can give you many advantages, having a Canadian employer can also be quite effective. In addition, being among those elected to the provincial nomination scheme can apply for up to 600 points. The following will be explained about this project.
If you have the specific skill set required by Canada, you can participate in various Inter-Express Express applications known as Canadian Skilled Workers and qualify for permanent Canadian residency.

An invitation will be sent to you if you have the necessary privileges. Once you receive this invitation, you can apply for a Canadian permanent residence and do things such as medical examinations and obtaining a non-record certificate. Finally, after confirming all the documents, you can obtain a Canadian Permanent Residence Card.

(Method 2) Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)

This method is similar to previous methods in immigration to Canada. The difference between Provincial Nomination and Express Entry is that Provincial Nomination is directly provided by Canadian provinces and territories and each has its own criteria. So people who want to immigrate to a particular province of Canada can participate in the program.

Different provinces of Canada have different immigration programs, but in general, all provincial candidacy programs can be divided into four broad categories, including skilled labor, investors, families and graduate students of Canadian universities or colleges. People in these categories will be eligible to apply for provincial candidacy and permanent Canadian residency.

The most common category of provincial candidate program is the skilled workforce category. The Canadian provinces have launched this project in order to attract the skilled labor needed by their labor market. This allows people with a professional background, a good education and a good language skill to apply for immigration to Canada through their home province.

To qualify for the Canadian Provincial Nomination Program, you must first select your category. For example, the Province of Alberta has three categories of Express Entry, Alberta Opportunity and self-employment opportunities in agriculture. Almost all of Canada’s provinces have dedicated one of their provincial program categories to Express Inter. If you want to apply for the provincial nomination through the Express Inter category, you must first create a profile in the Inter Express system.

If you are selected as a candidate from the province of your choice, you can register in the Inter-Express system. The next step is to submit profile information, including the profile number, to the province in question to confirm your candidacy. Upon approval of the provincial candidacy, you will receive up to 600 points in the Inter-Express system. Eventually, all the ranked applicants and the selected individuals will receive an invitation. Other categories of provincial candidacy are fully conducted through the relevant province and outside of the Express Entry system.

The Canadian Provincial Nomination Program is one of the fastest and most popular ways to obtain Canadian permanent residency.

Please note that the province concerned is not responsible for granting permanent residency and you must apply for permanent residency in Canada through the federal government after all. Of course, if the federal government approves and obtains the necessary privileges, it simply checks for things like medical examinations and a certificate of record, and there will be no problem in issuing a residence card.

(Method 3) Investment and Entrepreneurship

The Canadian government has provided the opportunity for citizens of other countries to become permanent residents by investing in Canada. People with business experience and sufficient capital can apply for permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian Investment and Entrepreneurship Program. This program has three different categories including the following:

  • Investors
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Self-employed people

  • People who want to create a business in Canada that has a significant stake in Canada’s economy, culture or art.
  • Experienced in farming and able to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

(Method 4) Migration by family

Migration by family, known as family sponsorship, is one of the most common ways to obtain permanent residence in Canada. If a family member is a permanent resident of Canada, it can help you obtain permanent residence in Canada. A permanent resident of Canada can invite them to stay in Canada as a sponsor of their spouse, children, parents, and grandparents.

Currently about 30 percent of all immigrants coming to Canada, are supported by a family member in the country.

  • The sponsor must consider the following requirements to be eligible:
  • Establishing financial ability to support family members
  • Commitment to support family members within a specified time and strive for family members to achieve financial independence
  • At least 18 years of age
  • No jail time and no serious charges against anyone
  • Not being bankrupt

(Method 5) Immigration to Quebec through labor and investment

Quebec has its own rules in many cases, and immigration programs have separate procedures. One of the most important Quebec immigration programs that will result in permanent residence in Canada is labor migration and investment. If you are interested in living and working in one of the cities of Quebec, you can take part in the Quebec skilled worker program or its investment program.

Working Migration to Quebec

Work migration to Quebec is possible through the Provincial Skylark program. This program is completely out of the Express Inter system and you need to create a profile in the same province’s Arrima portal. After you create your profile and submit a request for a Quebec Certified CSQ Certificate, you should wait for your profile and rating. After you have completed the examination if you have obtained the said certificate, you can apply to the Federal Government for permanent residence in Canada.

You must have earned at least 50 points to be eligible for the Quebec Workforce Program.

Investing in Quebec

To be eligible to participate in this program, you must have at least $ 2 million in capital. You must also have at least 2 years of experience in the past 5 years in one of the following areas:

  • Jobs in agriculture, trade or industry
  • Professional jobs
  • International agencies
  • Government jobs

Note that if you are accepted, you will need to invest C $ 1.2 million in one of these areas. If you qualify, you will be assessed on the following factors:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Work Experience
  • Language skill

You can also participate in the Quebec Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment Program. The minimum funding required for the Quebec Entrepreneurship Plan is $ 300,000 CAD and $ 100,000 for the Self-Employment Plan.
